Sandro Parrinello

HEAD OF THE RESEARCH UNIT

Professor of Representation of Architecture

Sandro Parrinello is a Full Professor of Representation of Architecture at the Department of
Architecture at the Università degli Studi di Firenze. He is a member of the teaching board of the
PhD in “Design, Modeling, and Simulation in Engineering” at the Università degli Studi di Pavia
and the International Doctorate in “Patrimonio Cultural” at the Universidad de Oriente de Santiago
de Cuba. Since 2006, he has carried out international teaching activities obtaining official teaching
and research assignments abroad as a Visiting Professor in universities in Brazil, Cuba, Finland,
Russia, Spain, Colombia, Palestine, and Poland. Over the years, he has been responsible for
numerous research projects dedicated to the 3D digital documentation of historical and architectural
heritage and the development of information systems. He is the scientific coordinator for the H2020
European Project PROMETHEUS, where he coordinates a group of universities and companies to
develop management systems on cultural routes.
Parrinello has been the scientific head of research projects in the Middle East for the United
Nations. He has conducted numerous research projects in Central America to study the Antonelli
fortresses and analyse urban centres and sites of historical interest.
Coordinator of numerous scientific cooperation agreements between universities and Honorary
Professor of the Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture, over the years he has
conducted countless national and international workshops and summer schools dedicated to
documenting historical and architectural heritage. He is the editor-in-chief of two publishing series.
He also is a member of the editorial board of scientific journals and author of more than 250
scientific publications, including papers in collective volumes, monographs, e-books, conference
proceedings, and journals.

Matteo Bigongiari

Digital survey specialist

Matteo Bigongiari is a Researcher (type A) at the Department of Architecture of the Università
degli Studi di Firenze. He obtained his PhD and the title of Doctor Europaeus in 2020 in the
disciplinary scientific sector ICAR/17. Since May 2023, he has been a member of the National
University Council (Ministry of Research) as a representative of the researchers of Area-08 (Civil
Engineering and Architecture). Lecturer in drawing and representation at the Department of
Architecture since 2020, from 2016 he also has taught courses on architectural survey in Italy and
abroad. Since 2016, he is lecturer in architectural survey at the Faculdade de Arquitectura e
Urbanismo of the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP); he has been imparting lectures on the
Documentation of Architectural Heritage at the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM in Mexico
City. His research activities primarily revolve around the Digital Documentation and Representation
of Heritage Architecture, focusing on its preservation and valorisation. In particular, his research
delves into fortified architecture from the 15th to the 16th centuries, with a specific emphasis on the
study of typologies and treaties concerning early constructions in the modern style. Matteo’s
expertise contributes significantly to the understanding and preservation of architectural heritage.

Anna Dell’Amico

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

Digital survey specialist

Anna Dell’Amico obtained her PhD in Representation and Survey Sciences in the disciplinary
scientific field ICAR/17 at the Università degli Studi di Pavia in 2021.
Since November 2020, she has been a Research Fellow at the DICAr, the Department of Civil
Engineering and Architecture at the Università degli Studi di Pavia for the development of the
digital documentation foreseen within the project Digital documentation of the magisterial fortified
walls of the city of Verona. Since 2019, she has been participating in the H2020 PROMETHEUS
project as an Early-Stage Researcher in charge of the Communication and Dissemination strategy of
the project and for developing protocols for HBIM information models. Since 2015, she has
collaborated with the DAda-LAB Research Laboratory (DICAr, Unipv). Her research activities
mainly concern the management of 3D databases and parametric modeling as well as surveying
systems with laser scanner mobile technology. She coordinates several scientific activities through
collaboration agreements and technology transfer between DICAr and companies that promote the
testing of methodologies and tools.

Alberto Pettineo

PHD CANDIDATE

Alberto Pettineo is a PhD student in Survey and Representation of Architecture and Landscape (CEAR/10 A). He graduated with honours in Building Engineering-Architecture at the University of Pavia. From November 2023, he is research fellow at the DARWIN Research Laboratory, afferent to the Department of Architecture at the University of Florence. Starting in 2019, he began collaborating with the DAda-LAB Research Laboratory within the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture at the University of Pavia. Throughout this time, he has participated in both national and international research projects, which have enhanced his expertise in the documentation of architectural heritage.His research focuses on the development of methodologies for digital documentation of complex architectural systems, database management, development of semantic 3D models and information platforms, dealing with various case studies in Italy and abroad.
